Apple says it hasn’t been breached after hacker group threatens to wipe millions of iPhones

Apple has poured water on claims by a hacker group that it has gained entry to a whole lot of tens of millions of iCloud accounts. In a statement provided to Fortune, an Apple spokesperson stated that not one of the firm’s methods — together with iCloud and Apple ID — had been breached, and that the alleged listing of e-mail addresses and passwords “seems to have been obtained from beforehand compromised third-party providers."

Motherboard first reported that a group calling itself the Turkish Crime Household was claiming to have stolen particulars for upwards of 300 million iCloud accounts in a bid to extort cash from Apple. The group reportedly demanded $75,000 in both Bitcoin or fellow cryptocurrency Ethereum, or $100,000 of iTunes present playing cards by April seventh,...
